Research in the ECOSHEDS lab addresses fundamental questions in freshwater ecosystem ecology and watershed science

1) How do watershed state factors (e.g., climate, forest composition, lithology) influence the form and timing of energy and nutrient delivery to the river network?
2) How do in-stream biogeochemical processes vary over space and time?
3) How does the structure and function of microbial communities dictate the fate of elements through aquatic food webs?

We work across biomes (tropics to arctic) and scales (microbe to watershed) to understand how freshwater ecosystems and watersheds (ECOSHEDS) function in a changing world. Research includes experimental lab and field-based methods, the use of distributed environmental sensor platforms, and the synthesis and analysis of large observational data sets resulting from the growing network of ecological, watershed, and critical zone observatories.

Interested undergraduate and graduate students and post-docs should feel free to contact adam.wymore [@] unh.edu to discuss opportunities.
